Each piece of Baksa jewelry is designed and handmade by Michael Baksa, Designer Goldsmith. Always natural, often bold, Michael's work reflects his love of nature, and an all-in embrace of life.
Michael was born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a region of spectacular beauty stretching 65 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. He grew up surrounded by generations of artists and individualists of all stripes, who were drawn to the Cape for its beauty and creative energy. As a young man, Michael apprenticed with a New York goldsmith who ran a studio on Cape Cod. This is where his passion for working with gold and unusual gemstones began. Once on his own, with a successful jewelry boutique, his artistic style began to evolve, combining the lighthearted enthusiasm of the young apprentice, with the vision and meticulous craftsmanship of the mature artist. Now 35 years later the strong but malleable attributes of his preferred medium, 14k gold, continue to allow Michael to forge crisp clean bezels around gemstones that he selects for their unique brilliance, color, and shape. The gemstones articulate effortlessly, in hammered-texture frames, emitting that extra sparkle, which is the unmistakable imprint of this artist and his passion. As each design is brought to life, a sensitivity for the inherent beauty of gemstones is paired with enhancing the wearer with elegant, comfortable, and at times playful, jewelry designs.
Michael shares his life with his wife Teresa, a painter, both creating art while enjoying the natural beauty of Cape Cod and the sea and sky that surrounds them.
